BedGrid is in testing and not yet open to the public. The information shown is sample data for demonstration only. Launching Fall 2026.
How BedGrid works

Three steps. One platform. Same day.

Facilities post their open beds in 30 seconds. The whole care community — hospitals, placement agencies, fellow facilities, and families — sees them live. Patients and clients land safely, same day or next.

The full story in 60 seconds

How a bed gets from open to filled.

1

List your beds.

Each morning, post-acute providers report what's open today: male, female, hospice, isolation, plus any clinical limits. It takes 30 seconds and costs nothing.

2

The community sees them live.

Hospital discharge planners, placement agencies, fellow facilities arranging a transfer, and families all search the same live board — by care type, location, and clinical needs — with a freshness timestamp on every listing.

3

Receive your patients & clients.

The right referrals reach you — and only for beds you can actually accept. Same or next day. No phone tag, no denials, no wasted weekend.

For post-acute providers

You run a SNF, ALF, RCFE, board & care, memory care, or hospice. Here's what BedGrid does for you.

30 seconds a day. That's the whole commitment.

Find your facility.

Search by name on our registration page. Already in our list? Verify ownership in 60 seconds (license + 1 detail). Not in the list? Add yourself in 2 minutes.

Daily check-in — two ways.

Each morning we email you. Reply with "5 male, 3 female, 0 hospice" and you're done. Prefer the web? Log in, click the numbers, hit Submit. Whichever is faster that day.

What hospitals see.

Your bed count, your phone, your address, your contact name, and the time you last updated — that's it. They call YOU directly when they have a match.

What you DON'T do.

Pay us anything. Sign a contract. Sit through training. Track marketing leads. We're a bed list, not a lead generator.

For anyone finding a bed

Discharge planner, placement agency, fellow facility, or family? Here's what BedGrid does for you.

Real-time availability. Search and call. That's it.

Search live, not stale lists.

Filter by care type (SNF, RCFE, memory care, hospice, IRF…), location, gender, and clinical needs (trach, IV, behavioral, isolation, dialysis, vent). Every result shows today's bed count — not last week's.

Freshness, at a glance.

Green dot = updated within the cadence. Yellow = overdue. Red = stale. Grey = not yet reporting. Stop calling 40 facilities to learn 38 are full.

Contact them directly.

Click the phone number to call. Send an in-app message. Post what you're looking for and let facilities respond to you. We don't take a cut, slow things down, or hide contact info.

Free for everyone, alwaysVerified facility dataReal-time freshness

Both sides save time. Patients land safely.

The same screen serves both audiences — one source of truth instead of dozens of phone calls.

Facilities

Fill your open beds without paying for leads, signing contracts, or training new staff on a referral system. Your 30-second daily check-in is the entire workflow.

Anyone finding a bed

Hospital planners, placement agencies, fellow facilities, and families place people faster because they're calling facilities that are actually admitting today. Filter by care type, location, and clinical needs — then call the right one on the first try.

Common questions

The questions facility admins and discharge planners ask most often — answered straight.

  • Is it really free? Where does the money come from?
Yes. BedGrid is a California public-benefit nonprofit, not a marketplace. There are no usage fees, commissions, premium tiers, or paid placements. Operations are funded by grants and donations targeted at reducing California's hospital-bed-block crisis.
  • Who sees my facility's data?
Public dashboard visitors (anyone) see your bed counts, contact info, and last-updated time. Registered hospital users additionally see your full clinical profile — diagnoses accepted, limitations, and payors. Registered family and patient users see a sanitized view (no payor or compliance info).
  • How is this different from a referral service?
Referral services charge a fee per placement and act as middlemen who control which patient goes where. BedGrid is a directory: facilities list, hospitals search, and both parties contact each other directly. We never insert ourselves into the placement decision, and we never take a cut.
  • What about HIPAA? Do you handle PHI?
BedGrid is not a covered entity under HIPAA. We collect bed counts and clinical-acceptance categories, not patient records. When hospital planners send messages to facilities through our platform, we explicitly ask them not to include patient identifiers — and our composer reminds them of that before each send.
  • What if I miss a day of updating?
Your listing stays live, but your freshness dot turns yellow then red, and hospital planners can filter for fresh data. We send a polite reminder if you haven't checked in by 9:30 AM Pacific. Missing one day doesn't penalize you — your tier (3-day or 7-day cadence) governs when you're considered overdue.
  • Can my family member or patient use this too?
Yes. Patients and families can search facilities for free at the public Find Care page without an account, or register a free family account for saved searches and alerts. They see a sanitized public view — no payor info, no compliance stats.
